Classic PS1 Game Turned Blockbuster Movie

If you ever played one of the original Lara Croft games and enjoyed locking the creepy butler in the freezer (I know I'm not the only one; there's a facebook group of nearly 3,000 dedicated to it) then you definitely need to mark the evening of Thursday, November 18th on your calendar because the SAUO/UOAS is hosting a Lara Croft movie night! I know, I know, Lara Croft and Indiana Jones aren't exactly the most accurately depicted 'archaeologists', but they are awfully awesome to watch on the TV in CafĂ© Alt.  Especially with lots of friends, old and new! And POPCORN!!!!!!!! Come on out, bring some change for snacks and donations and watch Angelina Jolie raid some tombs.

Better than eating Dormouse...

Tuesday, November 16 we are having a bake sale to raise money for the society and for fieldwork bursaries. So far we have cookies, cupcakes, banana bread and brownies being made but we'd appreciate anything else anyone wants to contribute as well (Ancient Roman Spelt Cakes anyone?). E-mail me at sauo.uoas@gmail.com if you want to bake or "man the table".

Indiana Jones Movie Marathon (A SUCCESSFUL EVENING!!)

Interested in Archaeology? Well I bet that interested began when you first saw one of the Indiana Jones movies, with its search for treasure, adventure, and the romance of finding that long lost ancient treasure. Well the SAUO/UOAS are happy to provide you with an opportunity to watch these classic movies all over again, as we give you The Indiana Jones Movie Marathon Night. This event will take place Thursday, October 7th at 7pm in Cafe Alt (Basement of Simard).

4 movies all at once you say?!?! Well firstly we won't be showing the fourth movie because it really doesn't count, just the classics. And secondly, we will also have some refreshments and popcorn on hand for a small fee to satisfy your hunger throughout the marathon. The cost of the event is ONLY $2 and all of the proceeds will go to funding University of Ottawa students to go on excavations next summer.

So please come out, bring a friend, and enjoy some downtime as the SAUO/UOAS brings you Indiana Jones.
